Andrews-Paulos Research & Education Institute Leaders
APREI leads research and education initiatives and provides public service programs that generate new techniques, technology and methodologies to be implemented in direct patient care and will improve the lives of people of all ages. The vision is spearheaded by the on-going efforts of renowned orthopaedic surgeons Dr. James Andrews and Dr. Lonnie Paulos.
Dr. James R. Andrews - President of APREI
Dr. Andrews is internationally known and recognized orthopaedic surgeon throughout the world for his scientifi c and clinical research contributions in knee, shoulder and elbow injuries. Dr. Andrews is a founding partner and medical director for the Andrews Institute in Gulf Breeze, Florida. In addition, he is a founding member of the American Sports Medicine Institute. Dr. Andrews has been the mentor for more than 180 orthopaedic primary care sports medicine fellows. Involved in education and research in sports medicine and orthopaedic surgery, he has made major presentations on every continent, and has authored numerous scientific articles and books.
Dr. Lonnie Paulos - Vice President and Medical Director of APREI
Known throughout the medical community for his orthopaedic research, Dr. Paulos has been the investigator of more than 100 studies. He holds over 20 U.S. patents and has developed numerous surgical procedures and related devices, receiving international accolades for his work. In 1993, he was given the 3M Health Care Award for Applied Science for his research study, “MRI in the Diagnosis and Management of Meniscal Tears: A Prospective, Cost Analysis, Outcomes Study.” Dr. Paulos is the medical director for the Andrews-Paulos Research & Education Institute.
